Flying pig weathervane fitted to a square roof tile capping finial
- Description
Adorning rooftops with an air of sophistication, the gleaming copper embodiment of a whimsical flying pig graces this weathervane finial, instilling charm and character into any architectural landscape. Beyond mere ornamentation, this singular piece merges aesthetic allure with practical functionality as the airborne pig dances gracefully in the wind, aligning itself with the whims of the breeze.
Standing tall at 33" (87cm), this weathervane boasts a distinctive square roof tile capping, enhancing its visual appeal. The robust 12" (30cm) x 12" (30cm) x 11" (28cm) square ridge base ensures a secure installation, inspiring confidence in its stability. Unlike counterparts reliant on brackets that may compromise the integrity of a roof, this flying pig weathervane boasts a user friendly square roof tile capping fitting, eliminating the need for specialised tools and ensuring a watertight seal when nestled in mortar.
Ease of installation is further underscored by the inclusion of a versatile metal strap for mechanical fix fitting. Unravel, cut to size, and secure with the option to nail, screw, or fasten as desired. This adaptable strap, with predrilled holes, guarantees stability while affording the installer peace of mind. Ingeniously concealed during the traditional mortar installation of the ridge base, it complements the weathervane's aesthetic appeal.
Suitable for a diverse array of roofs, be it square, double hip, pyramid, tower, or flat, this flying pig weathervane transforms mundane rooftops into captivating canvases. Beyond roofing accents, its installation in gardens serves as a captivating focal point, turning heads with its whimsical charm. Immerse your surroundings in the allure of this polished copper creation, where practicality meets enchanting design.
- Brackets & Fixings
This weathervane finial can insalled in the following ways:
Mortar bedding:
The traditional installation method is to bed the finial onto the roof using mortar, in the same way as ridge tiles are fitted. For larger or heavier finials, additional mechanical fixing can be used for extra stability.
Mechanical strap fixing with mortar:
Many finials are supplied with a concealed galvanised metal fixing strap secured beneath the ridge base. The adjustable strap can be cut to length and fixed to the roof structure using screws, nails or mortar. Once installed, the strap is hidden beneath the mortar bedding, leaving a clean and seamless finish.
Dry fixing systems:
Some roofs use dry fix systems that secure ridge tiles and finials without mortar. These systems typically use brackets or mechanical fixings. If you are using a dry ridge system, please contact us to confirm whether your chosen finial can be adapted for compatibility.
