Aged Copper Cottage Fish and Lure Verdigris Weathervane

Description

Copper fish and lure weathervane measurements

This fish and lure weathervane is pure copper and has been aged professionally to a genuine green verdigris patina which gives it character and an antique appearance. The fish weathervane has developed light green verdigris over the once bright polished copper and will continue to age naturally and gracefully in the elements

The fish weathervane design has great intricate detailing and looks fantastic with the genuine Verdigris aged patina. The fish feature the tail, pectoral fins, scales, gills and the lure all of which make it look realistic and life like. It is free-flowing and working like a weathervane should and looks great when moving in the wind. One of the reasons that anglers or fishermen fish with a lure is because certain types of fish such as bass are attracted to it. Lures can be bright, noisy or represent a fish’s normal prey. It can also attract attention if it is unusual to the fish's environment or creates a disturbance. Fish interpret the lure as a possible meal, a threat, an annoyance, an injured animal and it can prove irresistible and thus allowing the angler to make a catch

Copper: The weathervane designs are handcrafted from pure copper and brazed. Brazing may be visible on some designs but doesn't tend to lessen the beauty of the lovely copper weathervane design. Globes and spacers are also made from pure copper, the copper over time has naturally aged to a Verdigris patina

Brass: Cast brass is used for the NSEW cardinal points on the range of copper weathervanes

Steel: Rods and brackets to mount the copper weathervanes are made from steel. The steel is treated with a durable exterior black powdercoat paint. The finish should be good for a reasonable amount of time out in the elements but in time if the steel rods and brackets weather they can be painted with an exterior metal paint such as Hammerite which restores the finish and will help preserve and extend the life of the fittings. Clear mastic can also be used on any joints for example where the rod is inserted and secured into the bracket to seal and further weatherproof and prolong the life of the steel bracket and rod
