  • Description

This Spitfire weathervane celebrates the amazing Supermarine Spitfire fighter airplane that RAF pilots flew in WW2. The Spitfire fighter plane was strategically important in World War II and was renowned for the part it played in the Battle of Britain and it has become an iconic and celebrated airplane. This Spitfire weathervane designs captures the true essence and a great likeness and silhouette of the famous aircraft in the design and is a fantastic piece to watch as it moves and turns as it flys in the wind

We were surprised to find out a few facts about the Spitfire aircraft: It was powered by a 1030 horsepower Merlin engine, it had a wingspan of just over 36 feet and could reach a top speed of 360 miles per hour. The Spitfire was the preferred fighter airplane to engage German Fighter aircraft during aerial dogfights

This weather vane can also be finished with Gold lettering on the N S E W and gold detail on the arrow tip and the arrow quill

Steel construction with primer and powder coating:

The weathervane figure is made from strong 3mm thick steel primed with iron phosphate primer and finished in a durable hammered effect black finish. Clear mastic can also be used on any joints for example where the rod is inserted and secured into the bracket to seal and further weatherproof and prolong the life of the steel bracket and rod. Painting the weathervane in the future is also possible with a good quality exterior metal paint to freshen and restore the colour. Weather vanes or weather veins as they are sometimes called create a nice feature and can be installed on garden sheds, huts, workshops, out houses, gazebos, poles, cottages, houses and many more
