Spitfire weathervane fitted to a square ridge tile finial cap
- Description
Fitted on the apex of a square ridge tile cap, behold the majestic allure of the steel spitfire weathervane, a captivating embellishment for your rooftop. Crafted with robust steel, this ornate finial not only exudes visual splendor but also functions as a charming wind responsive adornment. As zephyrs dance, the spitfire gracefully pirouettes, indicating the whims of the breeze, a nod to the historic prowess of this world war 2 aircraft.
Standing tall at 33.5 inches (85 centimetres), this commanding weathervane demands attention on your rooftop. The 12 inch (30cm) square ridge tile cap, available in standard terracotta with an 11 inch (28cm) height, offers a secure foundation. A spectrum of colours and finishes beckon for personalization.
In pondering mounting options, one might question the absence of a bracket. Yet, the strategic choice lies in preserving the watertight integrity of your roof. Unlike bracket installations that risk water infiltration, the spitfire weathervane provides a seamless alternative. anchored by mortar to the square ridge tile cap, a supplementary metal strap presents an optional mechanical fix, customisable to your specifications. This discreet strap, when utilised, harmonises with traditional mortar installation, delivering an unobtrusive and steadfast union, reassuring builders of stability.
Versatile in application, this spitfire weathervane harmonises with square, double hip, pyramid, tower, and flat roofs. Beyond its roofing prowess, it transcends to grace gardens, elevating aesthetics with its magnetic charm. Transform your home or garden, adding a distinctive focal point that beckons admiration and elevates curb appeal.
- Brackets & Fixings
This weathervane finial can insalled in the following ways:
Mortar bedding:
The traditional installation method is to bed the finial onto the roof using mortar, in the same way as ridge tiles are fitted. For larger or heavier finials, additional mechanical fixing can be used for extra stability.
Mechanical strap fixing with mortar:
Many finials are supplied with a concealed galvanised metal fixing strap secured beneath the ridge base. The adjustable strap can be cut to length and fixed to the roof structure using screws, nails or mortar. Once installed, the strap is hidden beneath the mortar bedding, leaving a clean and seamless finish.
Dry fixing systems:
Some roofs use dry fix systems that secure ridge tiles and finials without mortar. These systems typically use brackets or mechanical fixings. If you are using a dry ridge system, please contact us to confirm whether your chosen finial can be adapted for compatibility.
