Spitfire weathervane supplied with a half round ridge finial
- Description
Crafted from durable steel, this captivating spitfire weathervane boasts a distinctive half round ridge, elevating the aesthetic appeal of your roof. Its unique finial design sets it apart, making it a noteworthy embellishment for any rooftop. Beyond its decorative charm, this weathervane doubles as a functional weather indicator, gracefully pivoting with the wind to reveal the direction of the breeze.
Standing at an impressive 32 inches (78cm) in height, with dimensions of 24cm in width, 60cm in length, and an 80cm height for its half round ridge base, this weathervane combines elegance with practicality. The ridge tile fitting, initially available in a classic terracotta colour, can be customised with alternative colours and finishes upon request.
Negating the need for brackets, this weathervane presents a low hassle installation process that safeguards the integrity of your roof. By integrating the half round ridge into the roof with minimal effort using mortar, the weathervane achieves a secure and seamless fit. The robust yet flexible metal strap, easily tailored to specific requirements, facilitates a mechanical fix fitting, complete with multiple screw/nail/fastener holes for secure attachment. Once the metal strap is firmly in place, it discreetly disappears beneath the ridge base when secured with standard mortar, providing essential support during installation.
Versatility defines these spitfire ridge weathervanes, suitable for an array of roof types including gable ends, hip ends, houses, cottages, sheds, workshops, and summer houses. Beyond rooftops, these weathervanes transcend their functional role and can be repurposed as striking garden ornaments, offering a distinctive touch to your outdoor space. Elevate your home's exterior with this remarkable weathervane, marrying form and function in a truly bespoke manner.
- Brackets & Fixings
This weathervane finial can insalled in the following ways:
Mortar bedding:
The traditional installation method is to bed the finial onto the roof using mortar, in the same way as ridge tiles are fitted. For larger or heavier finials, additional mechanical fixing can be used for extra stability.
Mechanical strap fixing with mortar:
Many finials are supplied with a concealed galvanised metal fixing strap secured beneath the ridge base. The adjustable strap can be cut to length and fixed to the roof structure using screws, nails or mortar. Once installed, the strap is hidden beneath the mortar bedding, leaving a clean and seamless finish.
Dry fixing systems:
Some roofs use dry fix systems that secure ridge tiles and finials without mortar. These systems typically use brackets or mechanical fixings. If you are using a dry ridge system, please contact us to confirm whether your chosen finial can be adapted for compatibility.
