  • Description

Enhancing the elegance of your rooftop, behold the exquisite copper verdigris boat weathervane. The ridge tile is adorned with a weathered copper verdigris finish, it elevates the aesthetic appeal of your roof, serving as a delightful decorative embellishment. The boat turns in the wind turrning it into a functional indicator of prevailing winds. The default terracotta colour of the ridge tile fixture can be changed to one of the other colour offerings.

With dimensions of 12 inches (296mm) in length, 9 inches (225mm) in width, and an overall height of 26.8 inches (68cm), this weathervane stands as a testament to meticulous craftsmanship. The ridge base, set at a 45 degree angle, adds to its architectural finesse.

Curiosity may arise regarding the absence of a bracket, a concern promptly addressed by the weathervane's streamlined installation process. Unlike conventional bracket attachments notorious for hassle and potential leaks, the double arch fitting ensures a low hassle alternative. Furthermore, a robust yet pliable metal strap serves as a mechanical fix fitting, featuring multiple mounting holes for secure installation through screwing, nailing, or alternative means. Ingeniously, the metal strap discreetly hides from view, concealed beneath conventional mortar when securing the ridge base.

Versatility is a hallmark of these boat ridge weathervanes, suitable for a spectrum of roof styles, from gable ends to hip ends, houses to cottages, sheds to workshops, and even adorning the charm of summer homes. Beyond roofing aesthetics, these weathervanes metamorphose into enchanting garden ornaments. Imbue your rooftop with character by embracing this distinctive weathervane, a beacon of artistry and functionality.

  • Brackets & Fixings

This weathervane finial can insalled in the following ways:

    Mortar bedding:

The traditional installation method is to bed the finial onto the roof using mortar, in the same way as ridge tiles are fitted. For larger or heavier finials, additional mechanical fixing can be used for extra stability.

    Mechanical strap fixing with mortar:

Many finials are supplied with a concealed galvanised metal fixing strap secured beneath the ridge base. The adjustable strap can be cut to length and fixed to the roof structure using screws, nails or mortar. Once installed, the strap is hidden beneath the mortar bedding, leaving a clean and seamless finish.

    Dry fixing systems:

Some roofs use dry fix systems that secure ridge tiles and finials without mortar. These systems typically use brackets or mechanical fixings. If you are using a dry ridge system, please contact us to confirm whether your chosen finial can be adapted for compatibility.
